Commenting after Mohammed Abbkr was found guilty of attempted murders of two elderly worshippers, Shabana Mahmood said:
“These were shocking and horrific incidents that rocked the local community in Ealing and at home in Birmingham.
“Mr Odowa and Mr Rayaz, were the innocent victims of heinous violence and it is right that their attacker is brought to justice.
“Mr Rayaz and his family are important members of my community, which is why this case is close to my heart. I am incredibly proud of the way our local community in Birmingham pulled together to support Mr Rayaz, his family and each other, as well as supporting the police to do their job.
“I hope this verdict gives both victims and their families a sense of justice and goes some way to help ease the pain and suffering they have been through.”
