This week, Shabana was delighted to be a guest of the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra for a traditional Qawwali performance.
The event was a partnership between the CBSO and Sayarts, a community interest company that promotes Qawwali.
Qawwali is a genre of traditional music originating on the Indian subcontinent. It is a form of devotional and spiritual singing that has gained worldwide prominence.
Speaking at the event, Shabana said:
Birmingham was treated to a truly beautiful evening of traditional Qawwali, hosted right at the home of the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra. This one-off event, a special partnership with Sayarts CIC, brought an incredible display of talent to the heart of the city.
A huge thank you goes out to Sayarts CIC for collaborating with the CBSO to make this unforgettable night happen. Chahat Ali – what a talent!
