Shabana has visited Better Pathways in Digbeth to mark a huge £48,000 investment in their work.
Better Pathways applied for the council’s Pride in Place Impact Fund, which is distributing government funding for community organisations and projects.
The organisation runs a number of social enterprises to help those with learning disabilities or additional needs into work.
Their Digbeth base is also home to a number of other social impact organisations, such as prison-leavers charity Foundation 2 Change, who Shabana met as part of our visit.
A number of organisations in Birmingham Ladywood have benefitted from the funding, including Nechells Pod, MECC in Balsall Heath, and the Go-Woman! Alliance CIC in Alum Rock.
Speaking after the funding was announced, Shabana said:
To me, Pride in Place means backing the organisations delivering for Birmingham.
Places like Better Pathways are set to benefit from the £150 million fund delivered by this government.
And they will use the money to refurbish their space in the heart of Birmingham.
That’s the difference a Labour government working with a Labour council makes for our city.
