Shabana has welcomed the news that Lee Marsham has been appointed as Chair of the Nechells Pride in Place Board.
Lee is a former councillor for Nechells and will an independent voice bringing together local stakeholders to steer plans for the funding.
The £20 million in funding is part of a nationwide Pride in Place programme to support overlooked communities.
Recruitment for the Neighbourhood Board has already started, and local residents and stakeholders can express an interest here: application form.
In a communication circulated by the council upon his appointment, Lee Marsham said:
I’m proud to be appointed as the Independent Chair of the Nechells Pride in Place Neighbourhood Board. As a Board Member for the Bloomsbury Estate Management Board, Chair of Ambassadors for Nechells Primary Academy and Heartlands Academy, and former Councillor for Nechells, I want to make sure that we deliver on the funding we have been given.
Nechells has a strong and diverse community, a rich history and a great deal of local pride. By working together, listening to local voices and supporting community-led action, we will make a positive and lasting difference to our neighbourhood.
