Shabana has announced new targeted action to tackle knife crime across 27 police forces.
She announced the plans at a visit to a boxing gym in Acocks Green.
Speaking after the announcement, Shabana said:
Everyone deserves to feel safe in their community, and no young life should be blighted by knife crime.
Community organisations, such as Acocks Green Boxing Gym, provide structure, trusted adults and positive opportunities for young people.
This government is committed to halving knife crime and we have already cut levels by 11% since the election.
But we must do more, and that is why I am rolling out a crackdown on knife crime in 236 areas across 27 forces.
Each plan will be locally designed but will be tough on knife crime, with more enforcement, like police patrols.
We will also be tough on the causes of violence, working with schools and community groups to prevent these crimes from happening at all.
